The Lawshe Fund Campaign is the organization's annual end of the year appeal to our supporters.

This year, we are fortunate to offer multiple matches to your contribution totaling $3,000. These matches will ensure that your donation goes even further! Each match listed below will be used on contributions toward the Lawshe Fund, up to their match value. Once the first match is reached, the next match will be used until the matching funds are gone.

  • The Friends of the Sibley Historic Site will match all of your donations up to $500 this year! The Friends of Sibley have been great supporters of the site and our organization in the past, so please make sure to thank them for this amazing matching opportunity!

  • DCHS Board Trustee and treasurer Steve Cook, with his wife Michele Fallon, have provided a match of up to $1,000 this year, as well. Steve has volunteered and served on the board for five years. He and his wife Michele have been great supporters of the organization, serving on the Executive Committee, volunteering at various events and event attending special events when not volunteering.

  • DCHS Board Trustee and President Robert Damon, and his wife Michelle Damon, have provided a "presidential match" of up to $1,500 this year. Robert has volunteered and served on the board for five years, four of which as President of DCHS. He and his wife Michelle have joined DCHS at various events as both attendees and volunteers in the past.

The Year in Review

We hope you will consider a donation toward this fund to help offset the cost of operating three historic sites, providing tours to more than 20,000 people and creating new exhibit and programming opportunities for the public to participate in. If you want to learn more about Fred Lawshe, the namesake for our Lawshe Fund, you can visit our About Us page.

Today we operate three historic sites:

Through these historic sites, we provide tours to school children free of charge with the assistance of the Friends of LeDuc & Historic Hastings and the Friends of the Sibley Historic Site. We also worked with outside entities to provide presentations in various classrooms and for retirement groups and senior centers across the state. Exhibits are a main feature of our organization, as we created multiple exhibits for the Dakota County Library System and the Dakota County Parks Department.

Soldier at Mall of AmericaOur own exhibits are just as important to us as the ones we create for others! In 2018, we opened our "Dakota County During World War I" exhibit at the Lawshe Museum and had hundreds of people from all over the state come to see it. Over Memorial Day Weekend, we packed up the exhibit and hauled it over to the Mall of America for a WWI event. All of the exhibit banners, uniforms, artifacts and even the trench made the trip to Bloomington, Minn. and was set up in the Northeast Court. In addition to the exhibit, we had a video playing on the jumbo television in the Rotunda throughout the entire weekend. To cap off the event, we held a fashion show called "World War Fashions: The War That Raised Grandma's Hemline."

Overall, in the past year, our organization's name has been seen by more than 1,000,000 people from across the country! Our Mall of America event alone reached more than 850,000 people with television, radio and newspaper promotion, as well as in-person visits. Our organization could not accomplish what we do without the support of our members and contributors to local history. Please take some time to consider a donation to our organization's Lawshe Fund Campaign today.
