Spirit photography was a popular way of having proof of communication with spirits. This genre of photography began in the late 19th century and still continues today. This presentation will cover the beginnings of spirit photography on through its heyday and will explore its roots in Spiritualism. Spiritualism is a 19th century religion based on healing with and communicating with spirits. We will also touch on the artists and scientists who continue to work with spirit photography and the belief that the photographic medium can be influenced by the otherworld.
This presentation is offered free of charge thanks to the Union Pacific Foundation's COVID Relief Grant. While there is no admission, we encourage you to provide a donation to help offset the lost revenue experienced by COVID.
