Join the Dakota County Historical Society and the Sibley Historic Site for November's Mendota After Hours!
Ann Merriman, PhD, and Christopher Olsen, MA, from the Maritime Heritage Minnesota (MHM) will explore this fascinating history! MHM is now in its 18th year investigating our State's underwater and maritime archaeological sites within a not-for-profit paradigm.
MHM employs the only two Underwater Archaeologists licensed to work in Minnesota, and also utilizes the skills of a small group of ethical volunteers.
During this event MHM will present on results of numerous sonar surveys and underwater archaeological investigations in several suburban lakes and in greater Minnesota. Further, studies of Minnesota small watercraft and dugout canoes held in museums and private collections will be discussed, including a birch bark canoe made by Tukantoiciya of Mendota.
The event is for registered guests only and seating is limited. The event will take place in person at the DuPuis House on the grounds of the Sibley Historic Site. To guarantee your spot, you can register below. Walk-in visitors are welcome, but we cannot guarantee spots will be available.
