The program "National Register of Historic Places and Federal Preservation Law 101" will provide an overview of the National Register program and specifically how a historic property gets listed in the NR in Minnesota. It will also explore federal law and regulations established to protect historic properties from adverse impacts associated with publicly funded projects, including types of projects the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) reviews and how interested parties and the general public can become involved in the review process.
The presentation will be given by Sarah Beimers and Ginny Way of the Minnesota State Historic Preservation Office. Sarah is Environmental Review Program Manager and provides advice and assistance to local, state, and federal government agencies and stakeholders in the review and consultation process process for public projects under state and federal laws related to preserving Minnesota's historic properties. Ginny is National Register Architectural Historian and evaluates Minnesota's historic properties for listing on the National Register of Historic Places, a designation that makes them eligible for state and federal financial incentives.
Space is limited, so please register below. This is being offered as an in-person event.
